Salt Lake to Siam: Mormonism Meets Thailand’s Buddhist Heart

In late 2023 Bangkok’s skyline gained an eye-catching addition: an ivory-white temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Crowds gathered as foreign missionaries in white shirts and ties cheerfully invited passersby inside.

Local Thais first saw the words “Holy to the Lord” and a group of smiling foreign “Mormon” missionaries in ties – an unusual sight on crowded New Phetchaburi Road.
